Getting Started with Research
- Identify your area of interest. Explore topics in AI, cybersecurity, data science, etc.
- Connect with faculty members or research labs at Hunter College.
- Participate in undergraduate research programs such as REUs (Research Experiences for Undergraduates).
- Build a strong foundation in your chosen area by completing relevant courses.
- Document your findings and share your work through blogs or presentations.
Types of Computer Science Conferences
- Academic Conferences: SIGCOMM, ICML, CVPR
- Industry-focused Events: AWS re:Invent, Google I/O
- Hackathons: Major League Hacking (MLH) events
- Workshops: Specialized gatherings on specific technologies or methods
Presenting at a Conference
- Submit your research paper or poster by the conference deadline.
- Prepare a clear and engaging presentation or poster design.

- Hunter College has their own STEM conference every year. For 2025, the conference is on April 30th, with abstract submissions due February 10th and poster submissions due March 30th.
